The Sant’Anna Grain Festival in Jelsi enchants with its unique atmosphere.

It takes place on July 26 each year with a procession of floats parading along the streets of the town but preparations for this day begin long before.
It starts with the harvest, choosing the best wheat, continues with the decoration of the streets of the center always and strictly with braids of wheat and ends in the so-called “yards” where the carts are made, in great secrecy, which become real works of art made of grains and ears of wheat.

Each year, the community celebrates the bounty of the land and the rich agricultural tradition. The streets come alive with vibrant colors as residents share smiles and traditional songs. The event culminates in a solemn procession, where wheat, a symbol of prosperity, is brought as a gift to the church. Local gastronomy delights visitors with wheat-based delicacies, creating a perfect blend of culture, devotion and conviviality. A festival celebrating life, abundance and the unbreakable bond with the earth.

The entire country is involved in this festival that exalts the peasant culture, religiosity and attachment to their roots that so excites our fellow countrymen abroad who return on this occasion.

The same celebration, albeit in a small way, also takes place in Montreal, the U.S., Argentina and Venezuela thanks to the associations of Jelsese around the world.
From the festival a museum, the MuFeG (Grain Festival Community Museum), where the most beautiful floats from many of the past editions are displayed.
