The celebrations in honor of the patron saint scheduled for August 27 and 28, 2024, will be an opportunity to raise awareness of the figure of St. John the Hermit of Tufara – Molise’s first saint – and to enhance the Permanent Museum dedicated to him.
This was established on the occasion of the Jubilee Year dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the saint’s canonization (Aug. 28, 1221-Aug. 28, 2021).
The entire community of Tufara, including those living outside the town, is very attached to and devoted to the saint, who is also proclaimed Patron Saint of the Fortore Valley, a figure that helps to strengthen the bond between the Tufaroli scattered around the world and their country of origin.
It is still possible to visit the Saint’s Birthplace, now converted into a chapel, and the sites of the first miracles, such as the Vazolo Fountain.
