Raising awareness of emigration with Summer Heritage Fest
At the heart of this initiative is the desire to raise awareness of the complex phenomenon ofemigration by giving voice to the stories and roots that have shaped the social fabric of the region. The goal of the Summer Heritage Fest is to give root travelers an authentic experience away from conventional tourist routes.
Roccamandolfi, an ancient village with a pastoral economy, remembered as the home of brigands, has made a strong contribution to emigration. The feast of St. Liberato (first Sunday in June) marks the beginning of the summer returns of emigrants, who come to the charming mountain town to care for their affections and enjoy a restful summer stay, as well as enjoy local gastronomic specialties (snails, dairy products, mushrooms, lamb…). Other activities and events encourage the return of emigrants:
- On the occasion of the feast of the patron saint, St. James the Greater (July 25), a culinary festival with gnoccata and Folk Group will be organized.
- Literary intineraries: outdoor readings with Aleandro Lombardi
- “Walk through the village of brigands” with a visit to the multimedia museum, in order not to lose memory of the historical phenomenon, in collaboration with the Proloco. The intention is to create a kind of open-air museum in the streets of the village, allowing local communities and root travelers to learn about the places where brigands made history.
- National Dialect Workshop
- Outdoor Sports Activities and Canyoning
- Hike at the Finches Trail, starting at the Tibetan Bridge
- San Donato, Aug. 6 and 7: Emphasis will be given not only to its spiritual dimension that has been its own for centuries, but also to its cultural and traditional value
- Creation of the section: “Molisani nel mondo” on the municipal website
- Promoting the facebook group “Roccolani in the world“
