The experience

Archaeology as a tool for understanding the region

Immerse yourself in the oldest history of our region. Get to know the proud people who inhabited it, the Samnites. Discover customs and culture of those who were able to hold their own against even Rome for many years. All at the site of the ancient capital of this population.

The Italic sanctuary at Pietrabbondante is considered the most important place of worship of the Samnites and a very important testimony to Samnite civilization and its religiosity.

The remains of buildings dating back to the 5th century B.C. can be seen in the archaeological area. The most spectacular ones are certainly the remains of the theater and the great temple, but there are also other buildings of worship, workshops, and buildings used for political life.

The one held in Pietrabbondante is not just a visit to an archaeological site, but an immersion in history that is also perfect for learning about the basics of Molisian culture.

Touching stones placed there over 2,500 years ago, enjoying the same views as our ancestors, and experiencing the perfect acoustics of the theater will make the visit a unique and unrepeatable experience.
